Rama Darbaar – This sandalwood sculpture is a masterpiece beyond any comparison. In this Lord Rama (in the middle) is seen with his younger brother Laxmana and his wife Sita. Seated below is his supreme devotee, Hanuman.
The pleasant expression on the faces, the richness of the sandalwood and the intricate carvings make this one of a kind of statue which will not be easily replicated. This photo does not do justice to the actual sculpture.
The richness and the aroma of this wood cannot be explained in words. Statues sculpted from this wood was owned by kings and heads of states. Sandalwood is also used extensively in religious practices as it is seen as on offering fit for the Gods.
This wood will retain its fragrance for decades and is so sought after that it is now becoming very rare and difficult to find.
